Ordering a Bar or Bat Mitzvah Album can be confusing.
This section is designed to help answer your questions about customizing these special albums.
|
We want to make your order as easy as possible, and we hope to delight you
with the results. Please review the following information before completing
your order, and don't hesitate to call if you have questions, concerns, or if
you just want to speak with a human. We are available in the studio from 8:30-3,
EST, Monday-Friday.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ALBUM?
Your Bar/Bat Mitzvah album will be custom handcrafted to order, and must be scheduled for production well in advance. We will do everything we can to ship your album within 2 weeks, but
sometimes this just isn't possible. If your delivery will be longer than 2 weeks,
we will notify you, and of course offer you the option to cancel your order. If you need the album in a hurry, send us an emal or give us a call. Smetime openings in the production schedule can be found, and we'll do what we can to help you.
Once production has begun on a custom bar/bat mitzvah album, cancellation is not allowed, and
the items are not returnable.

WHERE DOES THE HEBREW CALLIGRAPHY COME FROM?
All Hebrew calligraphy is scanned from an antique family Tanach, then digitally processed and printed onto handmade paper.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHICH TORAH PORTION TO USE?
The very best way to ensure that you receive the correct torah portion is for you to tell me. I recommend checking with your Rabbi, Cantor, or Hebrew Instructor. If you have no idea what the child will be reading, I recommend using the standard reading for the date, which I determine using a Hebrew calendar.
CAN I CHOOSE COLORS THAT AREN'T SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE?
Absolutely! I have done these albums in every color of the rainbow. My favorite way to create a custom color scheme is to discuss the colors with you. I can work with color swatches, or you can describe what you want, using descriptive words like "rainforest-y with greens and browns, and a touch of hot pink." It is important to realize that creating these albums is a lot like painting a picture--the more descriptive you are, the more likely it is that I'll be able to match your vision. If we need to, we can always pull out a box of crayons and start naming colors from there (yes, I am serious--this is a very efficient way to articulate your wishes!).

WHAT IF THERE IS A MISTAKE ON THE ALBUM?
Of course, I want your album to be right. This album will be an heirloom that is passed down through generations, and even a small error spoils the whole idea. If I make a mistake, of course I will correct it free of charge. I try to avoid mistakes by clarifying everything with you before the design is finalized. The spelling of hebrew names, dates, lines to be printed--everything is done to order, and mistakes can happen. If you have provided me with incorrect information, I can fix this too, but unfortunately, I must charge a $30 fee to make corrections that are not my fault.

WHAT IF I NEED TO RUSH-ORDER?
There is always a queue of albums waiting to be made, and this is why I ask for 2-3 weeks time whenever possible. Of course I always check your date first--if I have less than 2 weeks, I may ask you to upgrade your shipping to Express delivery. If I have less than 7 days, I can probably get the album to you in time, but it depends on what else is in the queue, and what is happening in my schedule (As an example, the month of December is much busier than February) I always try to work with your schedule, but I am only human, and while I have assistants working on all areas of production, these albums are something that only I can do.
IS THE ALBUM ACID-FREE? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN ANYWAY?
Yes, of course the albums are made with only acid-free, archival materials. This ensures that your photographs and mementos will not be damaged by pH vapors emanating from the pages and mounting materials over time.

WHAT IF I NEED A DIFFERENT SIZE ALBUM?
I am working on several new formats for the customized torah scroll album, but right now, the only size available is 11x11. I'll be sending out notice to customers as soon as new sizes and formats are available.

DO YOU OFFER QUANTITY DISCOUNTS?
Sorry, but no. As every album is handcrafted one-at-a-time, just for you, there is no economy of scale. While I appreciate large orders, I cannot offer any discounts for them.
