The function of this book is to record the present, much in the same way as an undated, conventional diary. Over time, a single date may have multiple entries from different years, each one describing an event as it occurs. Examples may include: a new birth, a momentous occasion, an event of personal significance, a passing, or something else. A writer who cites just 20 important events each year will have a book with 400 milestones listed in it 20 years later.

Other sections invite the writer to go into more detail or to write about the past. This may include the origin of family traditions, heirlooms, and other details as far back as they wish to go. This diary can also serve as a birthday and anniversary record or as a home for important medical histories. There is no necessity of recording anything at a particular time--the writer proceeds at his or her own pace.

The book will appeal to both the simple note taker and the detailed writer. The volume may ultimately become one of your family's most prized posessions.
